Dr Tony Franks presented a paper entitled "Carburisation cracking in 9% Cr steels" to the MNW conference "Structure-critical materials for the oil and gas industries". The event was held at the Technium Pembrokeshire on 29th October 2009.
On-site Metallography
Metamet has recently purchased two Electer portable grinding/polishing units, and a portable Olympus microscope to enable us to conduct on-site metallography. A number of different replication methods are available. We also have an EMHT-20 portable hardness tester to complement the metallographic examination. It is anticipated that this equipment will enable us to assess the microstructural degradation of process plant, as part of life assessment studies.
